Classroom Liaisons act as a vital bridge between teachers, the PTO, and parents. Because each grade level has unique needs, your liaison team will meet early in the school year with teachers to solidify expectations and divide these responsibilities among yourselves.

1 Digital Community Management (Facebook)

  • Transition: Work with the previous year’s liaison to be added as an administrator to your grade’s private Facebook group.
  • Roster Updates: Update the group name for the new school year, remove families who have left the school, and invite new parents using the teacher-provided email list.
  • Engagement: Maintain the private page as a positive, secure space to keep parents informed and connected.

2 Teacher Collaboration & Roster Management

  • Kickoff Meeting: Connect with grade-level teachers at the start of the year to gather parent email lists and establish communication preferences.
  • Stay Updated: Periodically check in with teachers throughout the year to welcome any new families who join the class.

3 Parent Communications

  • Monthly Updates: Send a monthly grade-wide email containing the Bobcat Bulletin alongside specific grade-level announcements.
  • Liaison Alignment: The Lead Liaison will occasionally send updates to the liaison team to highlight upcoming priorities and urgent school needs.

4 Social Media Cross-Promotion

When the PTO or school distributes important flyers, graphics, or updates via email, ensure those materials are promptly cross-posted to your grade’s Facebook page.

5 Grade-Wide Teacher Gifts

  • Unified Coordination: Coordinate collective holiday and end-of-year teacher gifts across the entire grade level (rather than just individual classrooms) so all teachers are celebrated equally.
  • Delegation: If you are unable to lead a gift collection, please delegate the task to another parent volunteer or notify your grade's parents in advance so they can plan individually.
